New Delhi, June 26: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against 11 individuals linked to a terror conspiracy allegedly led by a faction of the banned Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). This group is accused of attempting to propagate its ideology and extend its influence in West Bengal and the northeastern states, including Assam and Tripura.

The NIA's investigation uncovered the accused's active participation in the Imam Mahmuder Kafila (IMK) conspiracy, which is associated with JMB, aimed at spreading its extremist ideology in these regions.

The chargesheet was submitted to the NIA Special Court in Guwahati, citing various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, as per officials' statements on Friday.

Among those charged, Nasimuddin has been identified as the alleged coordinator of IMK's operations in Assam, while Jagir Mia is noted as the group's purported leader in Tripura.

The agency highlighted that Nasimuddin was instrumental in leading IMK's activities in Assam, whereas Jagir Mia was at the forefront in Tripura.

According to the NIA, IMK was founded by senior JMB member Imam Mahmud Habibullah to further the organization's agenda within India.

The agency claims that the accused were actively working to enhance the presence of IMK/JMB.

“The 11 individuals charged conspired to increase the influence of IMK/JMB in India through secret meetings, religious indoctrination sessions, distribution of extremist materials, and leveraging digital platforms for anti-India messaging,” the NIA stated.

Investigators also discovered that the accused were promoting loyalty to the IMK/JMB leadership as part of their recruitment and influence strategies.

The NIA reported recovering a significant amount of incriminating documents, electronic devices, and digital records during the investigation, which are vital to the evidence against the accused.

This case, registered as RC-01/2026/NIA/GUW, is still under investigation, with the agency continuing to probe the alleged terror network and its operations.
