NIA Conducts Raids in Punjab Linked to Gurdaspur Grenade Attack

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has launched a significant operation in Punjab, conducting searches at 15 locations related to a grenade attack on a police station in Gurdaspur. This crackdown targets the banned Babbar Khalsa International terrorist group. The NIA has seized incriminating materials and previously arrested a key Khalistani operative linked to the group's activities. This operation highlights ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region and disrupt the networks supporting such activities.

NIA's Operation Against Babbar Khalsa International

On Friday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) executed searches at 15 different sites across Punjab, focusing on the grenade assault that occurred at a police station in Gurdaspur district last December.

This operation is part of a broader initiative to dismantle the activities of the banned terrorist organization, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). The NIA's searches spanned Gurdaspur, Batala, Amritsar, and Kapurthala districts, resulting in the confiscation of various incriminating items, including mobile devices and documents.

Earlier, on May 11, the NIA apprehended a significant Khalistani operative, Kashmir Singh Galwaddi, who is linked to the foreign-based Babbar Khalsa terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu, also known as Rinda. Galwaddi, who had previously escaped during the Nabha jail break in 2016, was captured in Motihari, Bihar, in collaboration with local police as part of a Khalistani terror conspiracy investigation.

According to the NIA, Galwaddi has maintained active connections with designated Khalistani terrorists, including Rinda, since his escape from jail. The agency identified him as a crucial figure within the BKI and Rinda's terror network in Nepal. He is a proclaimed offender in the NIA's case, accused of conspiracy, providing shelter, logistical support, and financial assistance to Khalistani terrorist associates. These associates had fled to Nepal after executing various terror acts in India, including an RPG attack on the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters.
