NIA Arrests Four More Suspects Linked to Radical Islamic Activities in Tamil Nadu

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its crackdown on radical Islamic elements in Tamil Nadu, arresting four more suspects involved in promoting armed conflict for establishing an Islamic state. These individuals were reportedly radicalized by a college founder who used Arabic classes to recruit youth. The NIA's investigation has unveiled a network advocating for violence and the overthrow of democratically elected governments. NIA's Ongoing Investigation into Radicalization

On Wednesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended four additional suspects in Tamil Nadu as part of its investigation into individuals promoting armed conflict for the establishment of an Islamic state. Officials confirmed the arrests.


The suspects have been identified as Ahmed Ali, Jawahar Satik, Raja Abdullah, also known as MAC Raja, and Sheikh Dawood. They were reportedly radicalized by Jameel Basha, the founder of the Madras Arabic College.


Basha and his associates were allegedly recruiting impressionable youth under the guise of Arabic classes, instilling them with Salafi-jihadist ideologies. Previously, the NIA had arrested Jameel Basha along with his accomplices Irshath, Syed Abdur Rahman, and Mohammad Hussain, filing charges against them.


The suspects are accused of utilizing classes and social media platforms to disseminate anti-national radicalization and recruit young individuals. According to a statement from the investigative agency, the inquiry revealed that the suspects advocated for violence and armed struggle to establish an Islamic state by promoting the ideology of Khilafat and martyrdom, aiming to overthrow democratically elected governments.
