Newly Released Apollo 12 UFO Audio Sparks Curiosity
US Department of War Unveils Declassified UFO Files
On Friday, the US Department of War made public a second set of declassified documents concerning reported Unidentified Flying Object sightings. Among these files is a newly uncovered audio recording from the Apollo 12 mission, where astronauts reported seeing mysterious “streaks of light” while attempting to rest in the depths of space. This recording, labeled NASA-UAP-D008, Apollo 12 Medical Debriefing – Tape 12, 1969, features the crew discussing unusual flashes and beams of light they observed during their journey. The seven-minute and fifty-second audio clip reveals that all Apollo 12 crew members encountered these unexplained lights in the vastness of space.
'Sudden beam of light appeared'
In the now-famous audio, Apollo 12 Commander Charles “Pete” Conrad Jr., Command Module Pilot Richard “Dick” Gordon Jr., and Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean shared their experiences regarding this strange occurrence during a debriefing after the mission. One astronaut likened the flashes to a sudden beam of light that would appear and vanish before their eyes. “The streaks were consistently horizontal and seemed to be in the same location,” one crew member noted. “It always appeared to move from right to left. Regardless of which eye it was in, the discharges were more centered, resembling a pinpoint of light that would close again.” Another astronaut remarked that the lights typically appeared higher in his line of sight, stating, “The horizontal ones I observed were generally above that one… I don’t recall any being down on the floor within my vision.”
However, NASA has suggested that these streaks of light were likely the result of cosmic rays interacting with the astronauts' retinas and visual systems. In simpler terms, NASA indicated that the astronauts were witnessing radiation while in space.
