Miraculous Rescue of Abandoned Newborn

A one-day-old infant found abandoned in a park in Greater Kailash, South Delhi, has been successfully saved by medical professionals. When the baby was brought to the hospital, its heartbeat had already ceased.

The child was discovered by members of the Resident Welfare Association (RWA), who promptly contacted the police, leading to the infant's transfer to Fortis La Femme Hospital.

According to a statement from the hospital, the newborn's condition was extremely critical upon admission. The baby exhibited jaundice, had ceased breathing, and the umbilical cord was not clamped.

The infant weighed 2.14 kilograms, and under the guidance of Dr. Raghuram Malliah and Dr. Vishal Gupta, the medical team initiated life-saving measures immediately. The statement noted that a breathing tube was inserted, and CPR was administered twice. Due to significant blood loss, a blood transfusion was also performed.

After several hours of intensive care, the newborn's condition stabilized, and it is now completely healthy. Dr. Malliah remarked that when the baby arrived, there was no heartbeat, making the subsequent recovery feel miraculous.

Legal Proceedings and Child Welfare Concerns

As per government regulations and guidelines, the infant has been handed over to the police for legal proceedings. The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) reports that there are approximately 29.6 million orphaned and abandoned children in India.

According to a 2020 report by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Delhi ranked highest in cases of newborns being abandoned in urban areas between 2015 and 2020.
