Inauguration of Women's College in Jewar
The long-awaited Government Women's College in the Jewar assembly constituency, established under the Prime Minister's Jan Vikas Yojana (PMJVK), is set to commence operations in the current academic session. The government has issued orders to start the college, with the online admission process beginning on July 16, 2026. Additionally, three teachers have already been appointed to ensure the initiation of regular academic activities.
Funding and Construction Details
This college was approved in 2019 through a collaboration between the Ministry of Minority Affairs and the Uttar Pradesh government under the PMJVK. Built at a cost of approximately ₹9.42 crores, the modern facility spans about one hectare (10,000 square meters) on Govindgarh Road, Jewar. The impressive four-story building includes modern classrooms and essential educational amenities, constructed by the Uttar Pradesh Projects Corporation Limited (UPPCL).
Historical Significance
Notably, the establishment of this college was sanctioned based on a proposal from the Jewar MLA, with the foundation stone laid by the then Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, on December 7, 2019.
Impact on Local Education
Despite seven decades of independence, there was no dedicated government degree college for girls in the Jewar area. The opening of this college will allow female students from rural and urban regions to pursue higher education without relying on distant cities or private institutions. This initiative is expected to enhance higher education, boost female education, and significantly empower women.
Meeting with the Chief Minister
Recently, a delegation of farmers from Jewar visited Lucknow via the first flight to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his residence. During this meeting, the Jewar MLA urged the Chief Minister to initiate the operations of the women's college in the current academic session. The Chief Minister took this request seriously and issued immediate directives, leading to the much-anticipated opening of the college this session.
Celebration of a Milestone
The Jewar MLA expressed, “Today marks a day of great pride and joy for the Jewar assembly constituency. Our daughters have long awaited the establishment of this government women's college, which is now set to begin this session. This is not just the inauguration of a building but the realization of our daughters' dreams, their bright futures, and a new beginning for women's empowerment.”
Gratitude to the Chief Minister
Expressing gratitude towards the Chief Minister, Dheerendra Singh stated, “I sincerely thank the esteemed Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for respecting the sentiments of the people of Jewar and our daughters by deciding to commence this college in the current academic session. Thanks to the Chief Minister's visionary leadership and commitment to education, the dreams of thousands of girls in our area for higher education are now coming true.”
Commitment to Education
“The timely appointment of teachers and the initiation of the admission process by the state government is a testament to its commitment to realizing the 'Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao' initiative on the ground,” he added.
