New Travel Regulations at Jaipur Railway Station Ahead of Diwali
Enhanced Travel Management for Diwali Festivities
Jaipur, November 4, 2026. With the upcoming Diwali and Chhath Puja celebrations, managing passenger traffic at Jaipur's railway stations has become a significant challenge for the railway administration. During the festive season, a large number of people travel to their homes, leading to increased congestion at the stations. Additionally, the presence of relatives picking up and dropping off passengers further adds to the crowding.
To address this situation, the North Western Railway has implemented several key changes at Jaipur Junction and Gandhinagar railway stations. From November 4 to November 20, platform tickets will not be issued, effectively restricting non-passengers from accessing the platforms for 17 consecutive days. The railway authorities believe this decision will help reduce unnecessary crowding and provide more space for genuine travelers within the station premises.
The railway administration has urged the public to refrain from entering the platforms to drop off or pick up relatives and friends. Only those with valid travel tickets will be allowed to enter the station as per the new arrangements. Given the anticipated influx of passengers during the festive season, the railway has prepared to manage crowd control effectively, ensuring that travelers can safely access the platforms.
At Jaipur Junction, measures to manage the crowd will not be limited to increasing the number of security personnel; comprehensive changes are being made to the entire passenger flow process. A rolling crowd management system has been introduced, allowing for controlled access to platforms based on the number and situation of passengers. A holding area is being prepared within the station premises to accommodate passengers temporarily, preventing sudden crowd surges on the platforms.
Significant changes have also been made regarding passenger exit at Jaipur Junction. A new secondary exit has been temporarily opened towards Hasanpura to facilitate passenger movement. This arrangement will be in effect from November 4 to November 16. However, some construction work related to the secondary exit is still pending, so it will not be used as an entry point for now. Passengers are advised to use the main entrance at Bhagwan Parshuram Circle for entering the station.
On November 8, during Diwali, the Jaipur division will operate reservation services from 8 AM to 2 PM, focusing solely on advance bookings. However, counters that handle both reserved and unreserved tickets will continue to operate as usual. The railway has also emphasized that passengers should be mindful of their luggage and avoid carrying excessive items to ensure a smooth travel experience.
According to railway regulations, each passenger is allowed to carry up to 40 kilograms of luggage without additional booking. If a passenger has more than this limit, they must book extra luggage through the railway's parcel or luggage office. Passengers are reminded to keep their luggage organized to avoid obstructing other travelers in the coach.
The railway administration has advised passengers to avoid carrying prohibited or objectionable items during their journey and to ensure that their belongings do not hinder the movement of fellow passengers. With the expected increase in passenger numbers at Jaipur Junction and Gandhinagar stations during Diwali and Chhath Puja, all necessary arrangements are being made to ensure a safe and convenient travel experience.
