Joseph Vijay Takes Oath as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu

On Sunday, May 10, Joseph Vijay was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, marking the beginning of his administration with significant decisions. Among his initial actions were the provision of free electricity, stringent measures against drug abuse, and initiatives aimed at enhancing women's safety. The leader of the Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) took the oath at a grand ceremony held at Nehru Stadium, administered by Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.

Immediately after assuming office, Vijay signed off on three crucial files. The first approved the allocation of 200 units of free electricity for every household in the state. The second file sanctioned the formation of a special task force to tackle the rising threat of narcotics, while the third focused on establishing a dedicated mechanism to ensure the safety of women across Tamil Nadu.

In his inaugural address as Chief Minister, Vijay expressed gratitude to the public for their acceptance and support, emphasizing that he does not hail from a royal or political lineage. He stated, 'I am not from a prince's family. I have come from among you, like a member of your family, your brother. You have embraced me with love and given me a significant place in cinema.'

He further acknowledged the encouragement he received from the public to enter politics, saying, 'You all stood by me through the challenges I faced. I am not a messenger of God; I am just an ordinary person. But with your support, I believe we can achieve anything and face every challenge together.'

Vijay assured that his government would not mislead citizens with false promises and requested the public's patience to deliver results. He committed to not misusing even a single rupee of the public's money, stating, 'I did not enter politics to make money, and you all know that. I will never tolerate corruption, nor will I allow anyone to earn money through corrupt means. This government will belong to the people, and together we will build a stronger and better Tamil Nadu.'

Criticizing the previous Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government, Vijay claimed that the state is burdened with a debt of nearly 10 lakh crore rupees. He mentioned that his administration is considering releasing a white paper on Tamil Nadu's finances to ensure transparency and accountability.
