Enhancing Agricultural Infrastructure

Farmers will no longer need to sell their produce at low prices immediately after harvest. The agriculture department is set to establish 305 storage warehouses and 400 permanent threshing floors across the state. This initiative will allow farmers to securely store their crops and sell them at favorable market prices, thereby increasing their profits. As a result, this will enhance farmers' incomes and contribute to the economic empowerment of the agricultural sector.

Implementation of the Storage Plan

Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha announced that the warehouse construction plan will be implemented in all districts of the state. The proposal includes the establishment of 88 warehouses with a capacity of 100 metric tons, 217 warehouses with a capacity of 200 metric tons, and 400 permanent threshing floors. To provide safe storage and better marketing facilities for agricultural products, an ambitious plan under the Prime Minister's National Agricultural Development Scheme (DPR) will be launched in the financial year 2026-27, focusing on the construction of warehouses and threshing floors. A total budget of ₹24 crores has been proposed for this initiative, which includes ₹14.40 crores from the central government and ₹9.60 crores from the state.

Job Creation Through Agricultural Development

The minister emphasized that this initiative will play a crucial role in developing agricultural infrastructure and generating employment. It is estimated that the construction of 88 warehouses will create 96,536 man-days of work, while the 217 larger warehouses will generate 339,388 man-days, and the 400 permanent threshing floors will provide 12,000 man-days of employment. Overall, the plan is expected to create a total of 447,924 man-days of employment.

Commitment to Farmers' Welfare

He further stated that the state government is dedicated to increasing farmers' incomes, improving the management of agricultural products, and strengthening the rural economy. This initiative is a significant step towards making farmers self-reliant and ensuring that the agricultural sector becomes more profitable and sustainable.
