The Dalhousie Division of the Public Works Department (PWD) has initiated the construction of a new road aimed at decreasing the distance between Dalhousie and Banikhet from 7 kilometers to just 4 kilometers.

According to PWD Sub-Divisional Officer Ankush Kumar, the new route will extend from Subhash Chowk in Dalhousie through Kathlag. The cutting and widening of the road has already commenced, with an anticipated completion time of two months. Upon completion, this shorter route will facilitate smoother travel for small vehicles between Dalhousie and Banikhet.

Kumar further explained that this route is an existing pathway that is being upgraded for vehicle access. The construction is expected to benefit not only the residents of Kathlag village but also the local population of Dalhousie and visiting tourists. Additionally, this alternative road is projected to alleviate traffic congestion and minimize the occurrence of jams in the region.
