Inauguration of the New Police Post

On Friday, the Gandhi Chowk police post in Dalhousie was officially moved to a newly built facility. The inauguration was presided over by former Education Minister Asha Kumari, representing a significant advancement in local infrastructure.

The ceremony saw the presence of notable figures including SDM (Civil) Dalhousie Anil Bhardwaj, DSP Dalhousie Mayank Sharma, Municipal Council Executive Officer Rakhi Kaushal, Vice President Reena Singh Jaryal, and Councillor Tilak Raj Kapoor ‘Jwala’, along with various senior officials and community leaders.


Asha Kumari addressed the media, stating that this relocation is part of a larger initiative. She pointed out that the previous building was limited in space, whereas the new site provides ample space and modern facilities, including adequate restroom amenities for the police staff.

She also outlined the beautification project for Gandhi Chowk:



  • The existing police post structure will be demolished.


  • The statue of Mahatma Gandhi will be restored to its original position.


  • A contemporary high-mast lighting system will be installed in the square to enhance visibility.



Officials noted that the new police post aims to create a more conducive working environment for officers and provide organized and efficient services for both residents and visitors. This initiative is anticipated to improve traffic management and elevate the overall appearance of Gandhi Chowk.


During the inauguration, DSP Mayank Sharma presented Asha Kumari with a traditional cap, while EO Rakhi Kaushal honored her with a shawl as a sign of appreciation.
