Introduction of Night Shelter at AIIMS Raebareli

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raebareli is set to establish a night shelter for the families and caregivers of patients. Officials announced this development on Thursday, highlighting that this initiative will provide safe and hygienic accommodation for relatives traveling from distant districts for medical treatment.

Current Challenges Faced by Caregivers

At present, many caregivers are compelled to spend nights either within the hospital premises or in open areas while their loved ones receive treatment. According to AIIMS officials, approximately 3,000 patients visit the outpatient department (OPD) daily from various districts. Additionally, a significant number of patients are admitted through the OPD and emergency services, increasing the demand for accommodation for their caregivers.

Collaboration for the Project

This project will be implemented under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on Thursday between AIIMS Raebareli and the Seva Daan Arogya Sanstha. The MoU was exchanged in the presence of AIIMS's Deputy Director (Administration) Colonel Akhilesh Singh and Amit Das, a representative of the Seva Daan Arogya Sanstha, along with Executive Director Professor (Dr.) Amita Jain and other officials. Professor Jain emphasized that providing dignified accommodation for patients' families is a crucial aspect of compassionate healthcare, and this initiative will greatly benefit them.
