Patacharkuchi, March 27: Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has pledged the establishment of a medical college in Bajali district within nine months, contingent on his party's re-election.

During a campaign event named ‘Vijay Sankalpa Divas’ held in Bajali on Thursday, he instructed senior party member Ranjeet Kumar Dass to secure 100 bighas of land for the proposed institution.

He highlighted significant accomplishments, including the founding of Bhattadev University, the creation of Bajali district, and substantial improvements in road infrastructure.

Focusing on women’s empowerment, Sarma reiterated the administration's dedication to fostering economic independence. He announced the inclusion of an additional 10,000 beneficiaries under the Orunodoi scheme in the district.

Furthermore, he stated that women would receive financial support of Rs 25,000 to encourage entrepreneurship, noting that seed funding of Rs 10,000 has already been distributed through the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA).

The Chief Minister also claimed that approximately 50 lakh bighas of land in Assam are currently encroached upon by outsiders. He reported that over one lakh bighas have been reclaimed during his administration and promised that an additional five lakh bighas would be liberated and allocated to indigenous communities if his government is re-elected.

Ranjeet Kumar Dass, who is contesting from the Bhawanipur-Sarbhog constituency, expressed his deep connection to Bajali and urged voters to support Dharmeswar Roy.

He expressed confidence in the alliance's chances, predicting that the NDA would win 89-90 seats in the state.

In Bajali, he asserted that the NDA candidate's victory is assured, but stressed the importance of a winning margin exceeding 40,000 votes.
