New Indoor Cricket Facility Opens at ACA Academy in Assam

The ACA Cricket Academy in North Guwahati has unveiled a new indoor cricket facility, touted as one of the largest in India. This 17,000-square-foot facility features nine practice wickets, a gym, and physiotherapy rooms, allowing cricketers to train year-round without weather disruptions. BCCI Secretary Devajit Lon Saikia emphasized its importance for aspiring players, enabling them to prepare for significant tournaments. Inauguration of a State-of-the-Art Indoor Cricket Facility

On Friday, BCCI Secretary Devajit Lon Saikia unveiled a significant indoor cricket facility at the ACA Cricket Academy located in North Guwahati. He emphasized that this facility is among the largest of its kind in India, designed to enable cricketers from Assam to train year-round without interruptions due to weather conditions. The newly inaugurated 17,000-square-foot facility in Fulung, Kamrup district, boasts nine practice wickets, including four tailored for spin bowlers and five for pace bowlers.

A Comprehensive Training Hub

"This indoor facility features nine practice wickets, catering to both spinners and pace bowlers. It stands out as one of the largest indoor cricket facilities in the nation," Saikia remarked after the inauguration. He also highlighted that the facility includes a gym, a physiotherapy room, and all necessary amenities for pre-habilitation, rehabilitation, and sports science medicine. This setup will allow aspiring cricketers to practice uninterrupted during both summer and monsoon seasons in Assam, aiding their preparation for significant events, particularly BCCI domestic tournaments.

Advanced Equipment and Player Wellness

Equipped with imported Uniturf playing surfaces, the facility offers varied training conditions across its nine wickets. Additionally, it features two spin bowling machines and a fast bowling machine, sourced from the USA, Canada, and Australia. The indoor center also includes a 1,500-square-foot gym and dedicated recovery and rehabilitation areas. Facilities such as separate changing rooms for males and females, equipped with ice baths, a sauna, and a steam room, enhance player wellness. A physiotherapy room is available for injury management and recovery, along with infrastructure for pre-habilitation and sports science medicine.

Enhancing Assam's Cricketing Future

The introduction of this indoor facility is anticipated to bolster the ACA Cricket Academy's capacity to offer structured training programs throughout the year, especially during Assam's summer and rainy seasons when outdoor practice may be hindered. Saikia noted that this facility will provide players with a comprehensive environment to refine their cricketing skills while focusing on fitness and recovery, ultimately preparing them for higher levels of competitive cricket. ACA Secretary Sanatan Das, ACA Treasurer Anupam Deka, ACA Apex Council Member Mukutananda Bhattacharjya, and other officials were present at the inauguration. This facility is expected to play a pivotal role in nurturing Assam's upcoming generation of cricketers, ensuring they are well-prepared for BCCI domestic tournaments with access to year-round training and recovery resources.
