Nagaon, May 27: In a positive development for patients and their families from Assam requiring medical treatment in Mumbai, approximately 4.8 bighas of land have been allocated to the Assam Government for the establishment of a new Assam Bhavan in the bustling Cotton Green area of Mumbai.
The land transfer was executed by Devashish Sarma, the District Commissioner of Nagaon, who also serves as the Joint Resident Commissioner for Assam Bhavan in Mumbai, from the Estate Manager of the National Port Trust, Mumbai.
It is noteworthy that Sarma has previously worked at Assam Bhavan in Mumbai for several years, providing exceptional support to cancer patients from Assam. Due to his exemplary service, he has been entrusted with the additional role of Joint Resident Commissioner while continuing his duties as District Commissioner of Nagaon.
Sarma expressed that this initiative will significantly aid the residents of Assam who frequently travel to Mumbai for various purposes, particularly for medical care.
