New Appointments of Additional Solicitors General in India

The Indian government has made significant appointments by naming Davinder Pal Singh and Kanakmedala Ravindra Kumar as Additional Solicitors General for the Supreme Court. Government Appoints New Additional Solicitors General

The central government has appointed senior advocates Davinder Pal Singh and Kanakmedala Ravindra Kumar as Additional Solicitors General (ASG) for the Supreme Court of India. According to a notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, these appointments have received approval from the Cabinet Appointments Committee. Both appointments will be effective for a period of three years from the date of assuming office or until further orders, whichever comes first.


Davinder Pal Singh brings over 35 years of experience as a senior advocate, having represented in more than 20,000 cases related to constitutional, criminal, regulatory, and commercial law. He has represented the central government, investigative agencies, state governments, public sector undertakings, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals in several significant cases.


Previously, he served as the Additional Advocate General for Haryana from 2001 to 2005 and for Punjab from 2005 to 2007, advocating in sensitive prosecutions and constitutional matters before the Supreme Court of India and the Punjab and Haryana High Court. His areas of expertise include corruption cases, politically sensitive prosecutions, challenges related to the NDPS and Juvenile Justice Acts, major land acquisition disputes, and cases arising from public movements.


Singh has also worked as a special public prosecutor for the CBI and a special counsel for the Enforcement Directorate, handling several high-profile economic crime cases, including the AgustaWestland helicopter case, the Delhi excise policy case, the Kingfisher Airlines case, the Sterling Biotech case, and significant allegations related to foreign exchange and coal.
