Recent Cases of Enforced Disappearances
New allegations of enforced disappearances have emerged in Balochistan. Recently, two additional cases have been reported, while local sources and human rights organizations indicate that a previously missing student has returned home safely. According to reports, 17-year-old Shahak Baloch, son of Rahim Bakhsh from the Buleda Mehnaz area in Kech district, was allegedly taken into custody on March 31 in Turbat. Sources claim that individuals linked to a state-backed militia were involved in his detention. Since then, there has been no information regarding his whereabouts, raising concerns among his family and the public.
Additionally, 21-year-old Noor Khan, a student from Sardasht Kalanch in Pasni Tehsil, was reportedly detained on March 28. Eyewitnesses stated that personnel believed to be associated with military intelligence stopped him at a van stop in Pasni. He was allegedly forced into a vehicle and taken to an unknown location.
Concerns Raised by Human Rights Groups
The Baloch United Committee has acknowledged both incidents, warning that these cases reflect a troubling trend in the region. The group has urged international human rights organizations to take note of this serious situation and ensure accountability.
A Rare Positive Outcome
