New Airlines Approved in India: Al Hind Air and FlyExpress Set to Launch

Approval of New Airlines

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has granted approval to two new airlines, Al Hind Air and FlyExpress, which are set to commence operations next year. Both airlines received their No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the ministry on Wednesday. Additionally, Shank Air, based in Uttar Pradesh, is also expected to start its flight operations in 2026, having already secured its NOC.

Minister's Statement

Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu expressed his enthusiasm on social media after meeting with teams from the new airlines, including Shank Air, Al Hind Air, and FlyExpress, over the past week. He noted that while Shank Air has already received its NOC, Al Hind Air and FlyExpress obtained theirs this week. This initiative comes as the ministry aims to increase the number of airline operators in the country.

Growth of India's Aviation Market

According to reports, India is among the fastest-growing domestic civil aviation markets globally. Currently, IndiGo and the Air India group, which includes Air India and Air India Express, dominate over 90% of the domestic aviation market. At present, there are nine domestic airlines operating in India, although the regional airline Fly Big suspended its scheduled flights in October.

Role of New Airlines

The introduction of these new airlines is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity. Al Hind Air is promoted by the Al Hind Group based in Kerala. According to the airline's website, it will launch as a regional passenger airline, starting operations with a fleet of ATR 72-600 aircraft, focusing initially on providing efficient domestic air travel. Plans are in place to eventually expand services to international destinations.
