NEET-UG 2026 Exam Scandal: Investigation Uncovers Major Educational Fraud
NEET-UG 2026 Under Scrutiny
The NEET-UG 2026, India's largest medical entrance examination, is once again at the center of controversy. This time, the issue extends beyond mere paper leaks, as investigative agencies have uncovered signs of an organized network that has revealed the deep-rooted presence of educational mafia from Latur in Maharashtra to Sikar in Rajasthan. The revelations from the CBI, Rajasthan SOG, and other agencies have shaken millions of students and parents across the country.
Sikar: The Hub of the Scandal
According to investigations, Sikar, known as a coaching hub in Rajasthan, is believed to be the main center of this network. Agencies suspect that it was here that materials resembling actual exam papers were distributed to students under the guise of 'guess papers.' Initial findings indicated that around 150 questions from the leaked paper matched those of the actual exam, marking the beginning of the racket's exposure.
The Multi-Million Rupee Scheme
Investigative agencies report that the paper leak network initially lured students and parents with promises of '100% selection.' Intermediaries active in several states charged hefty sums for securing medical seats. Reports suggest that some families in Sikar allegedly paid up to 10 lakh rupees for access to leaked papers. However, the situation raised suspicions when some students scored lower than expected.
Communication Channels of the Network
Sources indicate that this network operated through WhatsApp, Telegram, and private coaching circles. Prior to the exam, PDF files labeled as 'guess papers' were sent out, which, upon comparison with the actual papers, revealed numerous identical questions.
Latur's Role in the Investigation
Latur, a significant center for medical and engineering coaching in Maharashtra, has come under scrutiny due to the involvement of certain doctors and coaching operators. The CBI has interrogated several suspects from Latur and seized crucial documents. The case intensified following the arrest of a coaching operator.
CBI's Findings So Far
The CBI has made multiple arrests, including a teacher from Pune accused of concealing vital clues related to the physics paper leak. Investigators are working to determine how the paper was leaked before the exam and at which levels security was compromised.
The NTA informed a parliamentary committee that the paper did not leak directly from its system. However, agencies are now examining the printing, transportation, and distribution chain.
Students' Outrage and Future Concerns
The entire controversy has led to significant anger among millions of students. Various student organizations and political parties have raised questions about the transparency of the examination system, leading to protests in several states, including Uttar Pradesh. Students argue that those who work hard have been wronged, and trust in the education system has eroded.
Experts believe that the increasing pressure of competitive exams in India, coupled with the limited number of medical seats, fosters such rackets. With millions participating in exams like NEET and only a few seats available, the educational mafia exploits this pressure to create illegal operations worth crores.
What Lies Ahead?
Currently, the CBI's investigation is ongoing, with suspicions that this network may extend across multiple states. Further arrests are likely in the coming days. This case has raised serious questions not only about the examination system but also about the coaching model and educational framework in the country.
The pressing question remains: Can the country's most crucial examinations be safeguarded from educational mafia, or will the futures of diligent students continue to hang in the balance?
