Her impressive performance at the event included winning two gold medals and a silver in the team category, establishing her as one of India's top athletes at this continental competition.
Return and Preparation for the Ceremony
The 27-year-old athlete returned to India just a day after clinching her third medal on Thursday, where she secured gold in the mixed trap team event alongside Kynan Chenai. She is set to fly back to Nagoya on Saturday morning to represent India at the closing ceremony.
A Medal-Laden Campaign
Neeru's successful journey at the Asian Games began on Tuesday when she made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual trap shooting gold. She topped the competition with a score of 26, also setting an Asian record during her qualification round by hitting 28 out of 30 shots.
In addition to her individual success, Neeru contributed significantly to her women's team, earning a silver medal with teammates Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer, scoring 118 out of 125.
The following day, she achieved a groundbreaking victory in the mixed trap team event with Kynan Chenai, where they surpassed the previous Asian Games record of 30 by scoring 34, marking India's first gold in this category.
A History of Success
With three medals to her name, including two golds, Neeru has emerged as one of India's brightest sports stars. She previously excelled at the Asian Shooting Championships in August last year, securing gold medals in both individual and team events. Additionally, she is an ISSF World Cup gold medalist, having won an individual gold in Italy in July.
Expressing Her Emotions
Reflecting on her outstanding achievements, Neeru expressed, "I am at a loss for words. The emotions are incredibly high. Winning gold for my country fills me with immense pride for myself, my family, the federation, SAI, and the Bhopal Shooting Academy. Everyone has played a role in this success, including OGQ (Olympic Gold Quest)."
