NDA's Weekly Meeting Scheduled
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will hold its weekly 'Mangal Milan' meeting on Tuesday at 9:30 AM in the GMC Balayogi Auditorium of the Parliament Library. This gathering occurs during a politically charged monsoon session, marked by debates on examination reforms and significant protests from the opposition regarding alleged police actions against students.
The session follows the introduction of the 'Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026' by Union Minister of State (Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions) Jitendra Singh in the Lok Sabha.
During the bill's introduction, continuous protests erupted, leading to the suspension of the house proceedings. The proposed legislation aims to strengthen the legal framework against paper leaks and examination malpractices by implementing seven significant changes to the 2024 Act. Key provisions include timely investigations and hearings, special fast-track courts, special task forces, dedicated public prosecutors, stringent penalties, hefty fines, and simplified appeal processes.
The NDA has allocated four hours for discussion on this bill, with participation from several young MPs, including BJP members Bansuri Swaraj and Tejasvi Surya. Other speakers expected to contribute include Alok Kumar Suman (JDU), Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu (TDP), Shrikant Shinde (Shiv Sena), Sunil Tatkare (NCP), Anupriya Patel (Apna Dal), Arun Bharti (LJP-Ram Vilas), along with allies Sharmila Tagore and Mithali Baig.
