NCP Leadership Addresses Merger Speculations
NCP(SCP) Executive President Supriya Sule firmly rejected rumors regarding a potential merger with the NDA or any collaboration with other parties on Saturday. She stated that no proposals have been received from any other political group. Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Sule emphasized that there has been no outreach from any senior party leaders regarding this matter. She mentioned, "Neither I, nor Sharad Pawar, Jayant Patil, Anil Deshmukh, or Rajesh Tope have received any proposals from the BJP, Congress, or any NDA allies."
No Pressure on NCP Leaders to Join Ruling Coalition
When questioned about any pressure on party MPs and MLAs to join the ruling coalition, Sule asserted that none of their leaders are under any such influence. The NCP(SCP) MP stated, "All eight of our MPs are in constant communication with each other and regularly discuss matters with Sharad Pawar. Not a single MP or MLA has expressed a desire to take a different path. We are content where we are." Speculation about Sharad Pawar's faction joining the NDA intensified following late-night meetings between NCP(SCP) leader Jayant Patil, ruling NCP leaders Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare, and CM Devendra Fadnavis. However, the NCP(SCP) clarified that these meetings were for administrative purposes, not for altering political alliances.
Sharad Pawar Remains Silent Amidst Speculation
In light of potential rifts within the party, NCP(SCP) chief Sharad Pawar has maintained silence while firmly dismissing the rumors, stating, "There is no point in discussing this right now." This cautious response from the senior NCP(SCP) leader marks a significant shift from his stance in June, when he had expressed confidence in the unity of his faction, contrasting it with the fragmentation of rival groups like Shiv Sena (UBT). He had remarked, "While Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs have separated, none of our MPs will do so."
