Union Ministers Champion Cycling Events Across India
Union Ministers Mansukh Mandaviya and G. Kishan Reddy participated in cycling events in Gujarat and Hyderabad, respectively, alongside notable athletes such as P. Gopichand, Deepthi Jeevanji, and Esha Singh. The 57th edition of the Fit India Sundays on Cycle took place this morning, attracting significant participation nationwide.
In Gondal, near Rajkot, Mandaviya led the event, while Reddy oversaw the Hyderabad gathering, which saw over 1,000 participants. This initiative, which began in December 2024, continues to engage citizens across the country.
Gujarat's Cycling Event Highlights Community Spirit
The cycling event in Gondal attracted around 250 cyclists, who embraced the themes of fitness and sustainability. Mandaviya expressed on Twitter, "To make India fit, we have to participate on Sundays on a cycle."
During the event, participants shared personal stories about how cycling has fostered community connections. Hiten Patel, a 48-year-old businessman, noted that he and his friends have committed to cycling regularly, stating, "It acts as a great energy booster and is also a wonderful way to stay connected with friends." He praised Mandaviya's involvement, saying, "If someone as busy as him can find time, we all can make time."
Mandaviya Advocates for National Fitness
Mandaviya, a frequent participant in the Fit India Sundays, emphasized the benefits of cycling for all ages and its role in reducing carbon footprints. He urged citizens to join these events weekly, highlighting the importance of community engagement.
He stated, "A country is only as strong as its citizens. To achieve a developed India, we must ensure that every individual is physically and mentally fit, contributing to national development. This is the vision of our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi."
Hyderabad Hosts a Star-Studded Cycling Carnival
The Fit India Sundays on Cycle event on January 18 transformed into a vibrant fitness carnival at Gachibowli Stadium, blending sports, culture, and community. This initiative has evolved into a nationwide movement, with over 22 lakh participants across more than 2 lakh locations, aligning with Prime Minister Modi's vision of promoting fitness and combating obesity.
The Hyderabad event featured prominent figures, including Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and sports icons like Pullela Gopichand and Esha Singh, who were recognized for their contributions to fitness advocacy.

During the event, Reddy underscored the necessity of incorporating fitness into everyday life, reflecting on how modern lifestyles contribute to health issues. He mentioned, "A Healthy India is our Prime Minister's ultimate goal, and through the Fit India Mission, we aim to reverse health challenges caused by contemporary living."
He also urged citizens to reduce cooking oil consumption and reintegrate physical activity into their routines.

Pullela Gopichand praised the event's enthusiasm and the diverse participation across cities, attributing its success to the vision of Prime Minister Modi and Union Minister Mandaviya. He noted the significance of sustained efforts in promoting cycling as a means of personal growth and community engagement.
The event in Hyderabad also featured various fitness activities, including Zumba, Yoga, and martial arts demonstrations, showcasing a commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle.
