On Thursday, Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, inaugurated the 6th National Parliamentarians Badminton Tournament at the Constitution Club of India. He emphasized that this event fosters friendship, unity, and interaction among Members of Parliament from various political backgrounds.
Speaking to the media, Rijiju noted that the tournament, organized by the Constitution Club of India, attracted MPs from diverse political parties and age groups. He remarked, "The Constitution Club of India, managed by both former and current MPs, has successfully organized this national-level event. It is heartening to see participation from MPs across different parties and age demographics."
Strengthening Bonds Beyond Politics
Rijiju further explained that the tournament serves as a platform for former MPs to engage with current lawmakers, enhancing camaraderie beyond political affiliations. He stated, "The Constitution Club is executing this event in a straightforward yet effective manner. It allows former MPs to reconnect with their current counterparts, fostering a spirit of friendship and unity, which is vital in politics."

BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy echoed Rijiju's sentiments, emphasizing the tournament's role in uniting parliamentarians. He mentioned, "The National Parliamentarians Badminton Tournament was inaugurated by Kiren Rijiju, and numerous MPs from various parties participated. Despite the political dynamics in Parliament, there is a strong sense of camaraderie here at the Constitution Club, known for its friendly atmosphere and collaborative spirit."

NK Premachandran, an MP from the Revolutionary Socialist Party, commended the Constitution Club of India for its efforts in promoting sports and other activities among parliamentarians. He indicated that the governing body is contemplating extending similar initiatives to state levels. Premachandran praised the leadership of Rajiv Pratap Rudy, stating, "The Constitution Club has established world-class facilities and frequently organizes extracurricular activities for its members."
He added, "Today, during our governing board meeting, we discussed the possibility of expanding these activities to state legislatures, should they be interested in establishing similar clubs for their members."
