Historic Achievement in Indian Politics

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has marked a significant milestone in Indian political history by becoming the longest-serving leader of an elected government in the nation.

This achievement surpasses the previous record held by Pawan Kumar Chamling, who served as Chief Minister of Sikkim for 8,930 days. PM Modi has now completed 8,931 days in leadership, which includes his time as Chief Minister of Gujarat and his tenure as Prime Minister, thus entering his 25th year in a leadership position.

This milestone is viewed as a remarkable accomplishment, showcasing decades of consistent public service and high-level political leadership.

Throughout his career, PM Modi has established numerous records, including being the longest-serving Chief Minister of Gujarat and the Prime Minister with the most extensive prior experience as a Chief Minister.

Notably, he is the first Prime Minister of India born after the country gained independence and has won three consecutive Lok Sabha elections in 2014, 2019, and 2024, highlighting his political endurance and continued public support.

Modi began his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, and served until May 21, 2014, leading the state for over 13 years before transitioning to national politics.

He took the oath as the 14th Prime Minister of India on May 26, 2014, becoming the first non-Congress leader to achieve a full majority in the Lok Sabha. He later became the first non-Congress Prime Minister to complete two full terms and secure a third consecutive term.

In addition to this historic milestone, PM Modi has achieved several other significant benchmarks this year, particularly in the digital space.

Earlier this month, he reached 30 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, solidifying his status as one of the most-followed global leaders on the platform.

Currently, he leads among both current and former heads of government in terms of subscriber count, significantly outpacing other notable international political figures.

In February, PM Modi also surpassed 100 million followers on Instagram, becoming the first serving world leader and politician to reach this milestone on the platform.

Since joining Instagram in 2014, his account has grown to become one of the most active and widely followed among global leaders, reflecting a consistent outreach strategy aimed at engaging audiences both domestically and internationally. He currently boasts 101 million followers on Instagram.

On X, PM Modi has amassed 106.4 million followers.
