Nalbari District Sees Surge in Candidates for Upcoming Assembly Elections

As the deadline for nominations in Nalbari district approaches, a total of 16 candidates have stepped forward across three constituencies. The political landscape is heating up with notable figures from the BJP, Congress, and various independent candidates entering the fray. Nominations Filed in Nalbari District


Nalbari, Mar 23: On the last day for filing nominations, a total of 16 candidates submitted their papers across three Assembly constituencies in Nalbari district: Nalbari, Barkhetri, and Tihu, paving the way for competitive elections.


In the Barkhetri constituency (38), Narayan Deka, the BJP candidate and former MLA who currently serves as the GMDA chairman, has officially entered the race. He will compete against the Congress candidate and incumbent MLA, Diganta Barman, along with Munindra Doley from the Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) and Aminul Islam representing the Trinamool Congress.


For the Nalbari constituency (39), the BJP's Jayanta Malla Baruah, who is also a sitting MLA and minister, has filed his nomination. He faces competition from former MLA Ashok Sharma, who is running for Congress, and Kennedy Pegu from SUCI.


The contest is further intensified by the presence of several Independent candidates, including Muktar Hussain, Samsul Haque, Safar Ali, and Harichandra Boro.


In the Tihu constituency (40), previously known as Dharmapur, BJP's Chandramohan Patowary, a sitting MLA and minister, has also filed his nomination. He will be challenged by Congress's Ratul Patowary and SUCI's Pramod Chandra Bhagawati.


Independent candidates Narayan Dutta Bhuya and Bharat Rajbanshi have also joined the race, contributing to a diverse electoral landscape across the three constituencies.
