In a significant operation, Nagaland police have dismantled a major interstate drug trafficking network, arresting five individuals involved in cocaine smuggling via courier services. Significant Drug Bust in Nagaland

Dimapur (Nagaland), August 2 - The Nagaland police have successfully dismantled a significant interstate drug trafficking ring that allegedly imported cocaine through commercial courier and parcel services. Five individuals have been apprehended in connection with this case, as reported in an official statement released by the police on Saturday.

The investigation revealed that the gang operated through a well-organized network of cocaine suppliers, operators, and distribution agents. Authorities indicated that initial inquiries suggest the group functioned in a highly systematic manner, with distinct responsibilities assigned for drug procurement, multi-tier payment systems, interstate transportation, courier delivery, and local distribution.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Tokhuika Sema alias Toka (35), Yeka Awomi (30), Birish Kumar (22), Akhtar Hussain (35), and distribution agent Swentheiba Inkah (25), who facilitated the transportation of drugs. According to police, Tokhuika was responsible for supplying cocaine in Dimapur. The statement also noted that two additional suspects are currently at large, and efforts to apprehend them are ongoing.

During the investigation, police uncovered the gang's interstate and international connections, including the suspected involvement of a Nigerian national. The statement emphasized that the investigation is ongoing to identify other accomplices, trace financial transactions, confirm the identities of those receiving the drugs, and assess the full extent of the trafficking network.

A case has been registered at the West Police Station in Dimapur under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. The police have also seized approximately 33 grams of suspected cocaine, which has been sent for forensic testing.
