BSF Trooper Disappears in Srinagar

Srinagar: A trooper from the Border Security Force (BSF) has reportedly gone missing from his unit's headquarters located in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar.

According to officials, the missing individual, Sugam Choudhary, is a member of the 60th BSF battalion and was last seen at the battalion headquarters late Thursday night.

In response to his disappearance, a comprehensive search operation has been initiated in the Panthachowk area of Srinagar, where he was stationed. Despite extensive searches in the vicinity, the trooper has not yet been located.

Authorities have filed a missing person report and are currently conducting further investigations into the circumstances surrounding his absence.

It remains unclear whether the trooper's disappearance was a voluntary act or if other factors are involved.

As the investigation continues, more information is anticipated.

The security forces in the region are on high alert following the announcement of Operation Sindoor by New Delhi, aimed at retaliating against the killing of 26 civilians by Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists on April 22 in Pahalgam's Baisaran meadow.

In a related operation, all three Pakistani terrorists responsible for the April 22 civilian deaths were neutralized by joint forces during Operation Mahadev on July 28 in the upper reaches of Dachigam National Park, near the Mahadev mountain peak in the Harwan area of Srinagar. The deceased terrorists included LeT commander Suleman Shah along with his associates, Abu Humza and Jibran Bhai.

Security forces are intensifying their anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on both terrorists and their support networks.

Additionally, drug traffickers are also under scrutiny, as intelligence agencies believe that funds from illegal activities, including drug smuggling and hawala money laundering, are being funneled into supporting terrorism in the region.

The strategy has shifted from merely eliminating terrorists to dismantling the entire infrastructure that sustains terrorism in the union territory.
