Mysterious Death of Pune Businessman: Was It a Tragic Accident or a Calculated Murder?
Suspicious Circumstances Surrounding Ketan Agarwal's Death
Pune: Authorities investigating the death of Ketan Agarwal have uncovered CCTV footage that shows a hooded individual, later identified as Chetan Chaudhary, following Ketan and his fiancée, Siya Goyal, at Lohagad Fort. This footage raised alarms among the police, who initially treated Ketan's death on June 18 as a tragic accident.
The unusual sight of a man in a hoodie during a warm day, with temperatures around 33 degrees Celsius, prompted further investigation into Ketan's demise, which was initially reported as an accidental fall.
In a shocking turn of events, police revealed that Ketan, aged 26, was allegedly pushed into a gorge by Siya, 20, and her accomplice Chetan, 22, just days before their planned wedding.
Ketan's death was first communicated to his family as an accident, with Siya claiming he slipped while trekking. However, police began to suspect foul play after reviewing the CCTV footage from the fort's ticket counter, where Ketan and Siya were seen together.
Upon closer examination, investigators noticed a man trailing them, dressed in a hoodie and shorts, with his face obscured. The footage also captured Siya glancing back at the man, who then appeared to sit down suddenly.
Given the high temperature that day, police questioned why someone would wear a hoodie, leading them to dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding Ketan's death.
While Ketan's family was mourning, police learned from his uncle that Siya had previously expressed doubts about their marriage, even suggesting a postponement.
Ketan and Siya had become engaged in February and were set to marry in a lavish ceremony in Udaipur in November, with a palace already booked for the occasion.
Further inquiries revealed that Siya had persistently urged Ketan to visit Lohagad Fort multiple times before the fatal incident. On May 31, she took him there, and again on June 4, but Ketan's mother prevented him from returning a second time.
It appeared that Siya and Chetan were plotting to eliminate Ketan before their scheduled trip to Bali for a pre-wedding photoshoot, which never occurred due to Ketan's missing passport.
On June 14, Siya allegedly attempted to push Ketan off the cliff, but he managed to cling to a bush. When he questioned her actions, she falsely claimed there was a snake, trying to portray herself as his protector.
Following these revelations, investigators expanded their inquiry, analyzing technical evidence such as call records and digital communications.
The investigation uncovered extensive communication between Siya and Chetan, indicating a close relationship and a potential conspiracy. Thousands of calls were exchanged, some lasting hours.
Technical analysis linked the two and suggested a premeditated plan. Police scrutinized social media profiles and photographs of Chetan, which helped identify him as the hooded figure in the footage.
Based on the gathered evidence, police detained Chetan for questioning. During the interrogation, they pieced together a conspiracy involving Siya and Chetan.
The motive appeared to stem from Siya's relationship with Chetan and her reluctance to marry Ketan. When asked why they didn't consider eloping, Chetan stated that Siya feared it would bring shame to her family.
Both Siya and Chetan were subsequently arrested and charged with murder and conspiracy. Ketan, a resident of Gahunje in Pune district, was a director and chief marketing officer at a family-run real estate firm, while Siya held a commerce degree from a private institution.
