Indore, September 10: A beautician, aged 32, was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances in a hotel room in Indore, with the man who accompanied her reportedly vanishing after taking her to a medical facility, according to police reports on Thursday.

The victim, identified as Sonali Sharma from Sundar Nagar, was found on the hotel bed in the Tilak Nagar area, exhibiting signs of distress with foam around her mouth.

Authorities suspect poisoning as a potential cause of death, but a definitive answer will only emerge following a post-mortem examination.

As per police accounts, Sonali checked into the hotel with Deepak Khandelwal, a pipe trader, around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. A few hours later, Khandelwal informed the hotel staff that Sonali had fallen ill and required urgent medical assistance.

He subsequently transported her to Akshat Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

After leaving the hospital, Khandelwal has not been located, according to police.

"Given the foam found at the scene, poisoning is a possibility, but we await the post-mortem results for confirmation," stated Manish Lodha, the Tilak Nagar police station officer.

Sonali's father revealed that she was employed at Pink City Parlour, where she had met Khandelwal. On the day of her death, she informed her family that she was heading to work at the parlour before going to the hotel with him.

For approximately a year, she had been living apart from her husband, who is a driver from Biaora and currently unemployed. The couple shares two daughters, aged eight and fourteen.

Police have secured the hotel's CCTV footage for analysis and are actively searching for Khandelwal to clarify the events surrounding Sonali's demise.

The body has been sent to MY Hospital for a post-mortem, and investigators are reviewing the footage and other evidence to determine if foul play was involved.
