Musician D4vd Faces Murder Charges in Case of Missing Teen
Murder Charges Filed Against D4vd
David Anthony Burke, who is professionally recognized as D4vd, is set to face murder charges in connection with the death of a 14-year-old girl. Her remains were discovered in the trunk of a vehicle in Los Angeles over a year after she was reported missing. D4vd was apprehended last week regarding the case of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has announced that he will be charged with first-degree murder.
District Attorney Nathan Hochman expressed the gravity of the situation, stating that the case might qualify for the death penalty due to certain aggravating factors, although a final determination has yet to be made. He shared, "As a parent, the worst nightmare is when your child goes out and never returns, which we aim to prove in court." In addition to murder, D4vd faces accusations of engaging in lewd acts with a minor and mutilating human remains.
The body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez was found on September 8 in D4vd's abandoned Tesla, which had been towed to a yard in Los Angeles after reports of a foul smell emanating from it. The authorities have not released the cause of death, citing a security hold requested by investigators. Celeste had been reported missing in 2024 from Lake Elsinore, as per the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. Sources indicated that her remains were not intact, suggesting she may have been deceased for some time.
At the time her body was found, D4vd was on tour but subsequently canceled his remaining shows. Earlier court documents revealed that he was under investigation by a grand jury, which noted that the teenager might have been a victim of foul play. His parents were also summoned to testify before the grand jury in Los Angeles County. D4vd's legal team, consisting of Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski, and Regina Peter, stated they are ready to defend his innocence vigorously. They emphasized, "The evidence will demonstrate that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and was not responsible for her death."
