Murder of Elephant Caretaker in Kerala Sparks Investigation
Tragic Incident in Kollam District
In a shocking incident in Thrikadavoor, Kollam district, an elephant caretaker was reportedly stabbed to death following a dispute among friends. Authorities confirmed the details on Friday, identifying the victim as Raju from Palkulangara, who worked at the local temple.
An elephant caretaker, known as a mahout, is responsible for the care and management of elephants. According to police reports, the altercation occurred around 9:30 PM on Thursday in Kuthirakkadavu when the accused, Shyam, met Raju and his friend Naveenkumar.
Both individuals were allegedly under the influence of alcohol during the confrontation. Following the dispute, Shyam called his friend Mahesh, and together they attacked Raju and Naveenkumar. Police stated that Shyam inflicted the fatal stab wound on Raju.
Raju was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The Anchalummoodu police have registered a murder case and arrested Mahesh, while efforts are underway to locate the main suspect, Shyam.
