Comprehensive Security Measures for Bakri Eid
Mumbai Police have implemented extensive security arrangements across the city in preparation for Bakri Eid celebrations on May 28, 2026. To maintain law and order during the festival, thousands of police personnel and special units have been deployed. Authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant, cooperate with officials, and report any suspicious objects or activities immediately. As in previous years, Bakri Eid will be celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout Greater Mumbai, with a large number of devotees expected to attend prayers at mosques, dargahs, and madrasas, as well as participate in the ritual of sacrifice.
In anticipation of large gatherings, the Mumbai Police have bolstered security under the guidance of the Police Commissioner and the oversight of the Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order). To ensure the festival proceeds peacefully and safely, the police have deployed 8 additional police commissioners, 21 deputy commissioners, 61 assistant commissioners, 1,980 police officers, and 10,110 constables throughout the city.
In addition to regular police deployments, special units including Riot Control Police (RCP), anti-protest teams, State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) platoons, Quick Response Teams, Delta Units, Combat Teams, and Home Guards have been stationed at key and sensitive locations. Enhanced monitoring and security measures will be implemented in crowded and sensitive areas to prevent any untoward incidents during festival-related activities and to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Mumbai Police are also advising citizens to exercise restraint in crowded places, adhere to regulations, and cooperate with security personnel to ensure a peaceful celebration. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious items or unusual activities to the authorities immediately.
