Mumbai Court Criticizes Police Over Gangster's Custody in Raut's Murder Case

Court's Strong Remarks on Police Conduct

Mumbai, August 5 - A special court in Mumbai expressed its dissatisfaction with the city police for failing to make adequate efforts to secure the custody of gangster Anmol Bishnoi in connection with the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddiqui. Judge Satyanarayan Navandar issued a show-cause notice to the investigating officer, highlighting non-compliance with a previous order from July that mandated the police to obtain Bishnoi's custody.

The court noted that there was a deliberate disregard for the judicial order. It emphasized, “Compliance with judicial orders is mandatory for officials involved in the criminal justice system. Once a competent court issues valid directives, it is the duty of the investigating officer to make sincere and genuine efforts to comply.” Anmol Bishnoi is currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail in New Delhi for another case.

Baba Siddiqui was shot dead on the night of October 12, 2024, outside his son Zeeshan's office in the Bandra East area of Mumbai by three assailants. Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, along with two others, has been named as wanted suspects in this murder case.
