Mumbai Airport Radar Relocation to Boost Dahisar Development
Mumbai Airport Radar Relocation Approved
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, announced on Wednesday that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has decided to relocate the high-frequency radar from Dahisar to Gorai, a move that has also received approval from the Union Minister of Civil Aviation.
In a post on the social media platform 'X' ahead of the elections for the 29 municipal corporations in the state, he stated that this decision will pave the way for the redevelopment of the Dahisar area in northern Mumbai.
Fadnavis expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support, mentioning that the state government had already allocated land in Gorai for the radar system. He emphasized that this relocation would eliminate significant obstacles to development activities in Dahisar.
Last month, Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu announced the transfer of the AAI's high-frequency radar from Dahisar to Gorai, which will free up hundreds of acres for affordable housing projects in the area.
The decision to move the radar was made following a meeting between the Civil Aviation Ministry, the Maharashtra government, and other stakeholders. According to a letter from the Civil Aviation Ministry to the state government, the costs associated with the transfer will be borne by the state government.
