Parimal Nathwani's Candidacy in Jharkhand

Parimal Nathwani, a close aide and advisor to Mukesh Ambani, the corporate affairs director of Reliance Industries Limited, has submitted his nomination as an independent candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand, backed by BJP legislators. Alongside him, JMM candidate Baidyanath Ram and Congress candidate Pranav Jha also filed their nominations on Monday in the presence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

After submitting his nomination, Nathwani expressed confidence in winning the seat, stating, 'I have previously contested as an independent candidate and emerged victorious. Legislators from all parties have supported me in the past and will do so again this time. I do not need to pressure anyone, and I believe my past work will lead me to victory.' He further asserted that he is confident that legislators from all parties will vote in his favor, ensuring his success. Reflecting on his 2014 victory as an independent candidate, Nathwani attributed it to his efforts, expressing optimism that history would repeat itself.

Nathwani noted that he has served as a Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand in both 2008 and 2014, contributing across various sectors. 'I have made Jharkhand my workplace, so I have never been an outsider. If given the opportunity, I will work even harder,' he stated. Babulal Marandi, the leader of the opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly, highlighted Nathwani's previous tenure as a Rajya Sabha MP, emphasizing that his past contributions should be considered.

While the BJP has extended its support to Nathwani, no official announcement has been made yet. Marandi remarked that even if the number of votes is limited, attention should be paid to Nathwani's track record rather than just the numbers.
