Moulana Shahabuddin Razvi Critiques Name Change Demand for Deoband

In a strong response to the proposal of renaming Deoband to Devvrind, Moulana Shahabuddin Razvi highlights that such changes do not improve the lives of residents. He stresses the importance of development, job creation, and addressing poverty instead of focusing on name changes. Citing tragic incidents in Shahjahanpur and Mirganj, he calls for action to alleviate hunger and improve living conditions, asserting that real change comes from tangible efforts rather than superficial alterations.

Moulana's Strong Response to Name Change Proposal

Bareilly: Moulana Shahabuddin Razvi, the national president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has expressed strong opposition to the demand for renaming Deoband to Devvrind. He emphasized that changing the name of a city does not alter the fate of its residents. Instead, he believes that true change occurs through development initiatives, job creation for unemployed youth, and the establishment of small and large industries. He stressed the importance of fair compensation for farmers' hard work and improving education and healthcare systems to genuinely enhance people's lives.

'Don't Forget the Shahjahanpur Incident'

The Moulana pointed out that renaming Deoband to Devvrind will not benefit anyone. He urged those advocating for name changes to remember the tragic incident in Shahjahanpur, where six family members took their lives due to hunger and poverty. He also mentioned a farmer in Mirganj who committed suicide for the same reasons. Such incidents are shameful for the nation and serve as a stark reminder to those pushing for city name changes.

'Real Change Comes from Action, Not Name Changes'

Moulana Razvi further questioned whether those advocating for name changes have ever paid attention to these tragedies. He asked if they have ever fed the hungry or provided water to the thirsty. He firmly stated that merely changing names does not lead to progress; real change comes from taking action.
