Morne Morkel, the bowling coach for India, has expressed his support for the team's choice to postpone Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's international debut. He emphasized the significance of relying on seasoned and in-form players within the current squad. Morkel highlighted Abhishek Sharma's position as the top T20 batter for India and Sanju Samson's impressive performance as the Player of the World Cup. "We must acknowledge that we have the number one batter in T20 cricket, Abhishek Sharma, and Sanju was the standout player in the World Cup," Morkel stated to the media prior to the second T20I.

While recognizing the enthusiasm surrounding Sooryavanshi, Morkel underscored the necessity of instilling confidence and stability within the existing team. "As coaching staff, it is essential to show trust and support for our players. Although a young talent is eager to break into the team, it is crucial to demonstrate that we believe in our current players," he remarked. He also pointed out that while healthy competition is beneficial, the focus should remain on supporting established players while gradually introducing new talent.

First T20I Cancelled Due to Weather Conditions

The Indian cricket team is currently engaged in a five-match T20I series against England. In the first T20I, India managed to score a solid 189/7, thanks to a quick-fire 59 runs off just 24 balls from Abhishek Sharma and a steady 68 from Shreyas Iyer, complemented by Shivam Dube's unbeaten 42. Despite an early collapse in the top order, Sharma's aggressive batting helped stabilize the innings before Iyer took charge in the middle overs. Unfortunately, rain interrupted the match, resulting in a no-result.
