Modi Promises Security and Accountability in West Bengal Amid Rising BJP Support
Prime Minister Modi Addresses Support for BJP in West Bengal
On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked that the increasing support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal has left the Trinamool Congress (TMC) feeling 'anxious.' He pledged to enhance law and order in the state, ensuring women's safety and taking action against those involved in political violence. Speaking at an election rally in East Bardhaman, he committed to expelling all infiltrators from West Bengal.
Modi further stated that actions would be taken against those who support and assist infiltrators in settling in the region, emphasizing that even developed nations oppose illegal immigration.
Commitment to Transparency and Accountability
The Prime Minister announced that the BJP would release a white paper addressing corruption and law enforcement, aiming to hold every TMC thug, gang member, and corrupt legislator or minister fully accountable under the law. He also proposed the establishment of an inquiry commission led by a retired Supreme Court judge to investigate political violence.
Modi reassured the public that the BJP would not halt the initiatives launched by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's government but would work to eliminate corruption and misappropriation associated with the TMC. Additionally, he mentioned that the Ayushman Bharat health scheme would be implemented in West Bengal during the first cabinet meeting of the BJP government.
Establishing a Transparent Tender Process
He indicated that a transparent tender process would replace the syndicate system for every enterprise. Modi highlighted ongoing conflicts among TMC-backed individuals over sand mining operations, referencing the conspiracies behind the recent explosion in Katwa. Under a BJP government, strict measures would be enforced to curb such criminal activities.
The assembly elections in West Bengal are scheduled to take place in two phases on April 23 and 29, with vote counting set for May 4.
