Modi Criticizes TMC for Creating a Climate of Fear in West Bengal
Prime Minister's Strong Remarks Against TMC
During a campaign rally on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of establishing a 'jungle raj' in West Bengal. He remarked that while the TMC speaks of 'mother, soil, and humanity,' the reality is that mothers are weeping, intruders are occupying the land, and people are living in fear. Modi referenced Rabindranath Tagore's vision of a 'fearless' society, contrasting it with the current situation under TMC's governance, which he claims has created the opposite conditions.
The Prime Minister asserted that Tagore envisioned a society free from fear, but the TMC's rule has led to a starkly different reality. He emphasized that the TMC talks about 'mother, soil, and humanity,' yet today, mothers are crying, the land is overrun by intruders, and the populace is terrified.
Allegations of Document Forgery
Modi further alleged that a TMC gang is aiding these intruders in obtaining fake government documents. He expressed concern over the alarming level of encroachment by intruders on West Bengal's land, stating that they are settling in the state after crossing from neighboring areas. The Prime Minister made a promise to the people of Bengal, stating that once the BJP forms the government, a special investigation will be initiated against those who assist in such encroachments. He assured that no matter how powerful they may be, they will be identified and imprisoned.
Condemnation of the Bogtui Incident
Expressing his dismay over the 2022 Bogtui incident, where eight individuals were burned alive in huts, Modi labeled it a stain on humanity. He stated that Birbhum has become a witness to TMC's 'jungle raj.' The events in Bogtui were not just an isolated incident; they represented a disgrace to humanity, as innocent women and children were set ablaze. He questioned, if this is not 'jungle raj,' then what is?
