DMK's New Initiative for Public Participation

On Saturday, MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and leader of the DMK, inaugurated the DMK Election Manifesto Portal 2026 at the party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam in Chennai. This innovative portal aims to empower individuals from all walks of life to contribute their thoughts and suggestions for the party's election manifesto. During the event held at Kalaignar Hall, Stalin shared the official email ID, WhatsApp number, and social media details of the DMK manifesto drafting committee. He emphasized that the general public, including traders, farmers, government employees, professionals, and youth, can share their expectations and ideas, which will be considered in the manifesto preparation.

Voices from the Party

Addressing the gathering, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi stated that the manifesto should reflect the voice of the people, as advised by their leader. She mentioned that a portal has been created by Suresh Sambandham, which they are launching today to allow citizens to submit their suggestions. Kanimozhi expressed gratitude to their leader for attending the launch and thanked the Chief Minister for being present after making a significant announcement regarding pensions.

She further noted that the DMK has always prioritized fulfilling promises made to the public in its election manifestos. The newly launched portal will enable ordinary citizens to provide suggestions, write, or upload their ideas from any sector. Kanimozhi reiterated that their election manifesto has consistently been one that delivers on promises, and with the new portal, the public can freely express their thoughts, which will be enhanced by AI suggestions.

Political Context

In related news, the BJP accused the Congress party of highlighting the 'failed model' of the DMK government in Tamil Nadu. BJP spokesperson C.R. Keshavan referenced comments made by a Congress-affiliated party regarding the state's rising debt, questioning the stability of the Congress-DMK alliance and demanding answers from Chief Minister MK Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. Tamil Nadu is among the few states set to hold assembly elections later this year.
