Cairo/Dubai, Oct 12: On Sunday, a projectile hit a passenger terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, just a day after a missile strike resulted in the deaths of at least 12 individuals and left over 300 injured.

Saudi officials confirmed that the latest incident affected terminals 3 and 4, which are designated for domestic flights.

Reports indicate that a Pakistani national lost their life, and 11 others sustained injuries during this attack. The Houthis have claimed responsibility for these assaults.

In a separate incident, an Indian national injured in the missile attack on Saturday succumbed to their injuries on Sunday, raising the death toll from that incident to a minimum of 13, as reported by the Indian Embassy.

The embassy further noted that 10 other Indian nationals were hurt, with three in intensive care but stable, while two remained in regular hospital wards. The rest have been discharged.

“We express our gratitude to the Saudi authorities for the medical assistance provided to the injured Indian nationals and assure their families that the Embassy will offer all necessary support,” stated the mission.

Embassy representatives visited all hospitals where the injured Indians were receiving treatment. They are also coordinating with the family of the deceased to expedite the repatriation of the remains.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar conveyed his sorrow regarding the death of the Indian national.

“I am deeply saddened by the loss of an Indian life in the Riyadh attack. My sincere condolences to the grieving family. The Embassy will provide all possible help,” Jaishankar expressed in a social media update.

The embassy has shared additional contact information for inquiries related to the injured Indians. In addition to its 24-hour toll-free helpline, 8002471234, for calls within Saudi Arabia, individuals can reach the mission at +966-11-488469 or send WhatsApp messages to +966-536216082.

Furthermore, Akasa Air has announced the extension of its suspension of all flights to and from Riyadh until October 13.

India has strongly condemned the ongoing attacks on civilian targets and infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, labeling them as “entirely unacceptable” and urging for an immediate cessation.

The attack on October 10 marks the latest in a series of strikes aimed at the airport in recent days, with Saudi Arabia attributing the assaults to Yemen’s Houthi rebels.
