Missile Debris Injures Indian Nationals in Abu Dhabi: What Happened?
Incident Overview
Five Indian citizens were among twelve individuals injured in Abu Dhabi on Friday due to debris from a missile that was successfully intercepted. Local officials reported that the injuries ranged from minor to moderate.
According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the injured included five Indians and six Nepalis, with one Nepali sustaining a more serious injury. The incident took place in the Ajban region, where debris fell after the air defense systems effectively neutralized the threat.
There has been no official response from Indian authorities regarding this incident. Since the onset of the conflict in West Asia on February 28, eight Indian nationals have lost their lives, and many others have been injured.
On March 29, an Indian was killed in Kuwait due to an Iranian attack on a power and water desalination facility. Just last week, another Indian was among two fatalities in Abu Dhabi when missile debris fell on them after interception by the UAE's air defense.
Additionally, on March 18, an Indian national was killed in an Iranian strike in Riyadh, and two Indians were killed with ten others injured in a drone attack in Sohar, Oman, on March 13. Earlier, three Indian sailors also lost their lives in assaults on merchant vessels.
In response to these escalating threats, India has intensified its diplomatic initiatives to safeguard the approximately ten million Indian nationals residing in West Asia.
