In a shocking incident in Champawat, a minor girl was abducted by three men while attending her friend's wedding on Tuesday. Armed with knives, the assailants took her to a deserted room where they assaulted her throughout the night.
Details of the Abduction
The girl, aged 16, was lured away under false pretenses by the perpetrators as she was preparing to return home. After walking a short distance, they threatened her with sharp weapons and forced her into captivity.
Once in the secluded location, she was physically assaulted, and the attackers took turns abusing her. When she failed to return home, her worried father alerted family members and villagers, prompting a search operation.
Discovery of the Victim
Late at night, around 1:28 AM, the family received a call from the victim's mobile phone, but the call was abruptly disconnected. Following a joint search by locals and police, she was found bound inside a room early on May 6, around 4:00 AM.
During questioning, the victim revealed that the three men from Salai village had assaulted her at knifepoint before locking her in the room and threatening her life as they fled.
According to Police Officer B.S. Bisht, a case has been registered based on the father's complaint, and a female sub-inspector has been assigned to the investigation. Legal actions will proceed based on medical reports and other evidence. A special team has been formed to apprehend the suspects. Following the incident, a large crowd gathered at the police station demanding immediate arrests, leading to increased police presence in the area.
