Militant Arrested for Petrol Pump Bombing in Manipur

In a significant development, a militant from the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup was arrested for his role in a bomb explosion at a petrol station in Manipur's Bishnupur district. The incident, which occurred on January 8, caused panic but fortunately resulted in no injuries. Following the blast, all petrol stations in the valley area were shut down indefinitely as the Manipur Petroleum Dealers Fraternity demanded enhanced security and compensation for potential damages. Authorities are currently working to apprehend other individuals involved in the incident.
 

Militant Arrested Following Bomb Blast Incident


Imphal, January 13: Authorities have detained a member of a prohibited group in connection with a bomb explosion at a petrol station in Bishnupur district, Manipur, as reported by police.


The individual, a 35-year-old active member of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), was captured in the Komnao Makha Leikai region of Kakching district. The incident took place around 8 PM on January 8, when a bomb was thrown at the Elidas fuel station located in the Moirang Thana Leikai area.


Fortunately, there were no reported injuries; however, the explosion caused significant alarm and resulted in the indefinite closure of all petrol stations throughout the valley regions of the state.


Police have identified other militants believed to be involved in the incident and are actively pursuing their arrest.


In response to the explosion, the Manipur Petroleum Dealers Fraternity (MPDF) declared a shutdown of all petrol pumps in the valley and surrounding areas starting January 10, until their demands are met.


Their demands include improved security measures for fuel stations and dealers, guarantees against future bomb attacks, and compensation for any damages incurred by petrol pumps.
