Milind Kumar's Record-Breaking Performance
In a remarkable display of skill, Milind Kumar emerged as the USA's leading six-hitter in men's ODI cricket, achieving an unbeaten century that propelled his team to a record-breaking run chase against the UAE during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 in Dallas on Monday.
Kumar scored an impressive 116 runs off just 84 balls, featuring seven fours and five sixes, at Grand Prairie Stadium. This performance marked the USA's highest successful ODI run chase to date.
Leading the Six-Hitting Charts
With this latest achievement, Milind Kumar has now hit a total of 38 sixes in ODIs, placing him at the top of the USA's all-time list. Following him are Monank Patel with 34 sixes, Aaron Jones with 32, Saiteja Mukkamalla with 28, and Steven Taylor with 27.
Historic Partnership Secures Victory
Kumar formed a formidable partnership with Shubham Ranjane, who contributed an unbeaten 57 runs. Together, they forged an unbroken 160-run partnership, successfully chasing down the UAE's challenging total of 330/8 with seven balls remaining. This chase is now recorded as the second-highest in League 2 history.
Additionally, this victory surpassed the USA's previous record of 294/7 against Nepal in Dallas in 2024, marking a significant milestone.
Aiming for World Cup Qualification
This win has propelled the USA to the top of the League 2 standings, enhancing their chances of qualifying for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. The team now requires just one more win from their remaining matches in the tri-series to secure a first-place finish.
Having already qualified for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier due to their strong performance in League 2, the USA aims to secure one of the four spots available for the World Cup next year.
With Milind Kumar in such outstanding form, the USA is optimistic about making their debut in the 50-over World Cup.
