This statement comes shortly after her ex-husband, Bill Gates, faced questioning from US lawmakers regarding his connections to the convicted sex offender. Melinda, 61, recounted her unsettling feelings during her encounter with Epstein, who passed away in 2019 while awaiting trial for federal sex-trafficking charges. She described her emotions, stating, "My heart is racing," and asked, "Have you ever been around someone you just know is evil?" When prompted about her feelings during their meeting, she affirmed, "Yes," emphasizing the importance of trusting one's instincts about people.

Her remarks coincided with Bill Gates' closed-door meeting with the House Oversight Committee as part of an ongoing investigation into Epstein. Gates disclosed that Epstein had once become privy to sensitive details about his personal life, including infidelities in his marriage. He clarified that these affairs were unrelated to his interactions with Epstein but acknowledged the pain they caused his family.
