The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has officially named Mehrajuddin Wadoo, a former international player, as the head coach of the India U17 men's national football team.

Preparations Underway in Goa

As reported on the AIFF website, the 42-year-old Wadoo has commenced his role as the team prepares for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2027 Qualifiers. The Blue Colts have started their training camp in Margao, Goa, which is currently in the trial phase.

Details of the AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers

India has been placed in Group E for the upcoming qualifiers, scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from November 11 to 20. The Blue Colts will compete against Malaysia, Palestine, Singapore, and Guam.

Wadoo's Experience in Coaching and Playing

Wadoo holds an AFC Pro Licence and has a wealth of experience in both coaching and playing. His recent role was as head coach of Mohammedan Sporting Club, and he has also led Real Kashmir FC and Sudeva Delhi FC. As a player, he represented India, contributing to the team's victory in the AFC Challenge Cup in 2008 and participating in the AFC Asian Cup in 2011. His accolades also include winning the SAFF Championship in 2005, the Nehru Cup in 2007 and 2009, and being part of Chennaiyin FC's ISL title-winning squad in 2015.

Wadoo's Thoughts on His New Role

Expressing his excitement about leading the U17 team, Wadoo emphasized the significance of this age group and the necessity of fostering an environment conducive to player development. He mentioned that trials have commenced and that the focus will be on thorough preparation for the upcoming qualifiers.
