Mehidy Hasan Miraz's Performance Boosts Confidence

Bangladesh's all-rounder, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, showcased his batting prowess by scoring a century in a practice match against the Cricket Australia XI. This achievement is expected to bolster his confidence as the team prepares for their upcoming series in Australia.

Following a recent ODI series loss to Bangladesh, the Asian team is set to face Australia in a two-match Test series starting August 13, with matches taking place in Darwin and Mackay. Currently, Bangladesh is engaged in a warm-up match against the CA XI.

Century Inspires Confidence for Upcoming Tests

Mehidy played a crucial role in Bangladesh's recovery during the practice match, scoring an unbeaten 109 runs, which helped the team reach a total of 263 at Marrara Oval. He attributed his success to a shift in his batting strategy, allowing him to adapt to the Australian conditions.

"I focused on building partnerships. Initially, I was not aggressive in scoring; instead, I aimed to understand the pitch. Once I settled in, runs came more easily," Mehidy explained, as reported by ICC.

"This century will certainly boost my confidence ahead of the Test matches. If I maintain the same mindset, it will benefit both me and the team," he added.

Bangladesh's Historic Test Challenge in Australia

This series marks Mehidy's first Test appearance on Australian soil. Bangladesh has not played a red-ball match against the reigning 2023 World Test Championship winners away from home since their last tour in 2003.

Currently, Bangladesh ranks fourth in the World Test Championship standings, with two victories, one draw, and one loss. A strong performance in this series could enhance their position among the top contenders for the WTC final. Adapting to the Australian conditions will be crucial for their success, and Mehidy hopes his teammates can quickly adjust.

"It was somewhat challenging for me as this is my first experience in these conditions. I worked hard to adapt," he noted.
