Rejection of Claims by Security Agencies

Security agencies stationed in Meghalaya have categorically rejected assertions made by Bangladeshi police regarding the infiltration of the killers of 'Inquilab Manch' leader Sharif Osman Hadi into India. The Border Security Force (BSF) labeled these reports as completely unfounded and misleading.

BSF's Official Statement

O.P. Upadhyay, the head of the BSF in the Meghalaya Frontier, clarified that there is no evidence of any individuals crossing the international border into India. He stated, 'There have been no reports of anyone entering Meghalaya from the Halua Ghat area. Our personnel have not observed any such activity, nor have we received any related reports.'

Police on High Alert

Senior officials from the Meghalaya police have also confirmed that there is no intelligence regarding the presence of any suspects in the Garo Hills region. The state police are collaborating with central agencies, but so far, no suspicious activities have been detected.

Rising Tensions Explained

The tension escalated after a police officer from Dhaka claimed that the two main suspects in Osman Hadi's murder, Faisal Karim Masood and Alamgir Sheikh, had illegally taken refuge in Meghalaya.

Given the ongoing instability in Bangladesh, BSF personnel along the India-Bangladesh border are already on high alert. Officials have stated that surveillance at the border is extremely stringent, and any attempts at illegal infiltration will be thwarted immediately.
